Wow, it's much later than I'd like it to be.

Busy work has an awful consequence of no time for anything else. Today, our new TV came which meant watching the kids (while reading daily blogs) so hubby could hook up the monstrosity. Of course this meant that he needed to make a trip to the electronics store because he was missing some cords. We decided we would all go out to eat for lunch and then quickly go to the electronics store. Unfortunately, the restaurant we chose had a line around the freakin’ building - no thanks. The nice thing was, the second restaurant we picked was near my dad’s work so he met us for lunch - yay!

Quickly, we went to Fry’s. Quickly, my husband looking at every cord in the place while he kids and I watched Wall-E in the TV department. Quickly turned into a lengthy trip.

When we finally got home, I put the kids in their rooms for quiet time but it was already 3:30 and I don’t like letting the little one sleep past 5pm. How much work can I get done in an hour and a half? None. Great.

I did get everything worked out at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods though. I will be starting there next month. I am taking basic (blah) classes but I guess I have to start somewhere. Once I was finished answering their emails and talking on the phone with them - it was 5pm.

Now the little girl is laying next to me watching Diego while I try to get some homework done. If you didn’t notice - please direct your attention to my word count from yesterday. No, that is no typo, I typed over 4,000 words! Awesome. Too bad I have to keep that up every day for the rest of the month to hit my goal.

I think I earned bragging rights yesterday though. I accomplished (almost) everything I had wanted. However, the shelves were never put up in the closet so I wasn’t able to hang up all the clothes. Totally not my fault.

I did get all my writing goals complete and used Write or Die. Tonight I will use it again. I don’t think there is anything on television so I should be able to finish everything that I haven’t even started. Ugh.

Today my only homework is to respond to five discussions posts in Women’s Studies (30-45 mins), which I plan to do right now before dinner. After the kids go to bed I’d like to complete extended outline from yesterday (30 mins, 1,000 word goal) and then start on the extended character sketches (1 hr, 2,000 word goal). I still have to update my personal journal and… yes, of course… put away the clothes. *sigh*

I learned yesterday, when I put my mind to my goals, I can accomplish them. It is much too easy to just put thing off but I have to remember the great feeling I get when I succeed in my goals. Plus, the more I complete, the closer I get to having my name on a novel and a degree in my hand.

*here’s to that*

I am so glad to have found you out here in cyber space. You are truly an inspiration to get my butt in gear and start working towards achieving my goals that I flounder with all too often! I am a stay at home mom of 6 kids, ages 18,11,10,8,6,3 and often feel guilty when I am writing instead of doing the Mommy thing, house work or hanging with the hubby. Quick question when you refer to "homework" is that work that you impose on yourself to stay focused or is it homework from classes you are taking?
I will defenitely be checking out your words regularly!
Thanks!

sorry one more question, are any of you stories, poems, essays, etc. on your blog?

Bewitched -

Wow, thanks for the compliments. Six kids, huh? I try and do a little of everything during the day but (besides family) my main goal is writing as much as I can. Some days I hardly get in 15 words - other days I can bust through 4,000 - it's hit or miss.

I am a part-time college student majoring (soon) in creative writing. My writing time is split between school work and my personal writing.

I do have a few articles (which I usually call essays for tracking purposes because they are technical writing) and poems, as well as some short stories. Just poke around and use the tags (keywords) on the right of my blog to find them easier.

Thanks for the comment though. I'll have to check out your blog when I have a bit of time this weekend.

Happy writing!

PS. If you add your email to your google profile, responses to comments are much easier. ;)

My blog is kind of dark and defenitely not mainstream... I relate to and find inspiration in non-mainstream writers like Kerouac (an beat generation writers/poets), Hubert Selby Jr., Hunter S. Thompson... and my writing tends to be raw, with a grab em by the balls feel to it. I am working on a short story that is not on my blog but I hope to re-work it in the coming weeks and possibly post it. I too am starting school in the Fall and that is SCARY for me. It has been years since I have been in school, and I would be starting at the begining...with all the basic classes. It is my hope though to some day earn my degree in creative writing, It will be a long road. Your hard work and determination is inspiring as writing can be a lonely profession and requires a great deal of self motivation.
I will dig around on your blog and check out your words.

Oh, not sure how to update my google profile so thought it may help if I just post my email??? The techy side of blogging is hit or miss for me...

I've never used Write or Die, but it looks like fun. Congratulations on making your goal and the admission to school. You're racing ahead to the finish line.
